Privacy and safety
Your personal information. You leave it with us, because that needs to be done if you want us to help you find a home that meets your requirements. But we can imagine that you want to know why we ask for your personal information and what we do with it. Let us explain it here. And if you have any remaining questions after reading this page, please let us know via our customer service.
All information you give us is stored behind lock and key. We do this using one of the most advanced technologies: Secure Socket Layer (SSL). In short, people who have nothing to do with your information, simply cannot access it. If we give your information to others – below you will find when and why we do this – we demand that they deal with that information as careful as we do and that it is used for the intended purpose. If you have a feeling this is not the case, please inform our customer service.
Often we use your information to offer a personalized search experience. We adapt what you seek in the HONQ app to your interests. The one home seeker will be pleased with a farmhouse in Heereveen, the other with a condominium the heart of Amsterdam. We use information from your preferences, history, (possibly) the preferences/history of your partner and (possibly) the characteristics of the home you have for sale. What do we do with your information?
We use your information for several purposes. Below is a listing. We use information received from you, but also information that we gather ourselves. For instance, information on the use of the HONQ app.
- Finding a suitable home
We want to show you a home that meets your preferences. To do so we look at the region you are interested in and price category. But we also look at homes you indicated you liked or disliked. This historic information is used to better get to know you and to be able to offer you a better offering.
- Getting you in touch with a realtor
If you are really interested in a home, you can request a brochure. This brochure is send by the selling realtor who will need your name and address. We have agreed with the realtor that he may only use this information to send you the brochure and nothing else. If a realtor abuses this agreement, we ask that you report this via our customer service.
- Getting you in touch with a mortgage provider
We want to help you in finding a home as best possible. We ask for income information to calculate (indicatively) your maximum monthly costs and your maximal financing possibilities. For this, we cooperate with the Rabobank. The Rabobank will get insight in your information so that they can contact you free of obligation to help finance your new home.
- Your account
- In your account we will store the following information: name, address(es), e-mail address and a profile picture. This is handy, for you only have to provide this information once. If you use the option to log in with your Facebook account, we also use and save information from this account. We do this after you have given Facebook explicit permission to do so.
- Customer service
To be able to help answer your questions fast, we use your information and make notes that we save. This comes in handy if you call us again. Information on the telephone conversation with you are registered and saved. Thus you help us analyze and improve our services. Sometimes we will use a third party to help answer your questions. This third party can also use your information.
You can subscribe to our various newsletters. This will keep you informed of our special offers, actions and news. We have general and personal newsletters. The personal newsletters are put together based on your information, for instance, with the homes you liked. This will make the newsletter more interesting for you. If you no longer wish to receive our newsletters, you simply unsubscribe. Easy, isn’t it?
- Personal search
We have so many homes in our offering that we like to help you underway. For instance, by showing you which homes might be of interest to you. This is based on the use of our app. We look at cookies and your IP-address, but also at what you liked and/or disliked before. And of course at what interests you, after having asked you this. - Improving our service
We are continuously improving our services. That is why we can use your information to ask you to – voluntary – participate in customer or market surveys. Sometimes others will execute this research for us. We provide them with your e-mail address. The other is, of course, bound to our privacy-rules. For example, your mail address has to be removed after the survey.
No one is waiting for fraud to happen, including us. That is why we use customer information to investigate, prevent and fight fraud. If necessary, we will give customer information tot eh government.
- Realtors and mortgage companies
We store information from participating realtors and mortgage companies. If this concerns personal information, we treat the information as we do the information of other users.
- Social media
If you use social media, for instance Facebook, you can use your social media account to log in onto our website. If you indicate, once you are logged in, to like a certain home, it is conceivable that this is shown on your social media account. HONQ will not get access to your social media account, but you can share articles you like, find handy or useful, with your friends. If you ask a question via social media and if we see this question, we will save the message and account name, so that we can react to your message.
What don’t we do with your information?
We will never use your information for anything else than to help you find your dream home, to get you in touch with the seller, the realtor or a mortgage provider. We will also never sell your information to others.

Is something wrong or do you want to check your information, please contact our customer service.
Do you want to stop using our app?
If you no longer want to use the HONQ app you can remove your profile via the settings page. It will no longer be possible to log in. Your information will be anonymized. Once you remove the app from your phone, you will be completely removed from the HONQ platform.
Sometimes it is necessary to change this Privacy Statement, for instance to adapt it to new legislation. We have the right to do so. If a change takes place, we will publish the changed Privacy Statement on this page and list the date of change above the statement.
